A man whose mum and four siblings died in a firebomb attack at their own home has been jailed after being found with a homemade shotgun.

Lewis Pearson, 20, lost his three sisters and younger brother in the horrific arson and their mum Michelle died of her injuries 20 months later.

A judge today considered Pearson's "personal circumstances" in sentencing him for possessing an unlawful firearm but still jailed the man for five years - a punishment set recently by Parliament.

Manchester Crown Court heard Pearson had been hiding the firearm for an associate, who was later killed. The name of the deceased was not revealed in court, according to Manchester Evening News .
