Britain's cheapest supermarket has been named seeing Aldi lose its crown in the battle of the budgets. In a latest price comparison sweep, both Aldi and Lidl were named cheapest - with an average basket price of £18.45, according to a Which?
investigation. On average, shoppers last month would have paid £18.45 at both Aldi and Lidl for 19 essential grocery products.
Included in the shopping list was food items like semi-skimmed milk, free-range eggs and Hovis wholemeal bread. In third place, just £1.58 more expensive than the discounters was Asda, where customers would have paid £20.03.
