The Prime Minister Boris Johnson has today confirmed no further Covid restrictions will be put in place before Christmas. With rising cases of Omicron across the UK, it was feared that tougher measures could have been introduced in the run up to Christmas Day in a bid to curb the spread.
But PM Boris Johnson has said there is currently 'not enough evidence on the severity of Omicron', the rate of hospitalisations or the impact of the booster rollout to justify any tougher measures being imposed.
He added that despite an 'extremely difficult' situation, he knew that millions of families across the nation were waiting to hear whether their Christmas plans could go ahead this year.
