set to be officially scrapped at a meeting of the council’s policy and resources committee tomorrow, 10 months after they were first agreed and just weeks after a new outpouring of opposition following the publication of related traffic regulations which would also have introduced restrictions including permit zones on surrounding streets.
Elected members will be asked to approve a report urging “a delay in implementing car park charges [to] help support the recovery of our town centres from the significant ongoing economic impacts which will continue for the immediate future”.It would mean the charging plan will not be implemented “until the direct impact of the pandemic has stabilised and our town centres are demonstrating sustainable.
