Boris Johnson did not take part in Parliament's one minute's silence for George Floyd, a Downing Street spokesman confirmed earlier today.
One minute’s silence was held at 11am in the House of Commons, where MPs stood and paid respect for George Floyd, an African-American man who was killed at the hands of the Minneapolis Police Department.The Prime Minister’s official spokesman said Mr Johnson did not break off from his weekly meeting with ministers to pay respects to Floyd, but was discussing the case.Johnson instead used the opportunity to recognise the “anger and grief” people around the world, including the UK, had felt.A spokesman for Boris Johnson said: "The PM began cabinet by discussing the anger and the grief that is not just felt.
