Boris Johnson’s spokeswoman made light of the rule-breaking Christmas shindig in No 10 last year just a few days after it was alleged to have taken place.
The bombshell has been leaked from recordings taken from a mock press conference on December 22 last year as part of the daily TV media briefings.
Allegra Stratton, the former press secretary and senior aide of the Prime Minister, cracked jokes about a “business meeting” in which there was “definitely no social distancing.” Officials can be heard in the background laughing about “cheese and wine” as staff in the 9 Downing Street press room can be heard pretending to ask questions about a party.
