Body recovered from Scots river after woman swept away during Storm Babet

The body of a woman has been recovered from a river in Angus after reportedly being swept away during Storm Babet. Police were informed that a person was spotted being swept into the Water of Lee, in Glenesk, north of Brechin around 1.45pm.Sadly, the woman's body was recovered by officers around two hours later.

Her identity is unknown at this time. The Water of Lee runs into Loch Lee, at the north of the glen. A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 1.45pm on Thursday October 19, officers attended a report of a person having been swept into the Water of Lee, Glenesk."Around 4pm, the body of a 57-year-old woman was recovered from the river.

There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."Angus is currently under a Red weather warning, meaning there is a danger to life.
