A weekly report by the CIES Football Observatory has highlighted Birmingham City as one of the top stepping-stone clubs in English football.
The study, which looks at which clubs' current big-5 league players departed from to reach the five major European top flights, paints an interesting picture.
Ajax are at the top of the list. The Dutch club has a history of developing young talent and counts 22 players that have moved to big-5 leagues, according to CIES Football Observatory.
Championship side Birmingham City are perhaps a surprise inclusion in the top five and are tied with Derby County, Ipswich Town and Nottingham Forest, and bettered only by Charlton Athletic and Leeds United.
