Wayne Rooney plans to splash out £150,000 stocking two lakes at his country mansion with prize fish. The England football legend's new pad sits in a 118-acre estate which boasts a pair of giant ponds.
Rooney, 34, wants to drain them and install equipment to improve the water quality and clarity. He hopes to boost their visual impact with shrubs, trees and plants in the water.
Then he will stock the lakes – which sit either side of the drive sweeping up to his £10 million Cheshire pile - with a variety of fish such as carp, pike, trout and catfish.
The former Manchester United star – who now captains Championship club Derby County - wants to show his four sons how to handle a rod and tackle so they can learn the art of coarse fishing.
