Birmingham City manager Lee Bowyer is hopeful that the Championship club can reach an "agreement" with Manchester United to temporarily suspended payments for on-loan winger Tahith Chong.

Chong, who joined the Blues on loan from United during the summer transfer window, faces up to five months on the sidelines through injury.

The Dutchman, who became an instant fans' favourite at St Andrew's, had made 13 appearances for the Midlands club prior to suffering his injury last month, claiming three assists.
