He is the longest-serving independent in U.S. congressional history, although he has a close relationship with the Democratic Party, having caucused with House and Senate Democrats for most of his congressional career. Sanders unsuccessfully sought the Democratic Party nomination for president of the United States in 2016 and 2020.

Bernie Sanders Endorses Joe Biden for President

By Gene Maddaus Senior Media Writer Sen. Bernie Sanders endorsed Joe Biden for president in a livestream conversation between the two Democratic rivals on Monday. “We’ve got to make Trump a one-term president and we need you in the White House,” Sanders said.

The two candidates also talked about the minimum wage, and oversight of the coronavirus emergency loan program, among other issues.
