BBC Breakfast's Naga Munchetty takes down CEO in energy crisis row over socks

BBC Breakfast turned tense as Naga Munchetty quizzed an energy CEO over sending socks to customers as the UK's energy crisis gets underway.In the heated debate, E.ON's chief executive Michael Lewis came up against the 44-year-old host as she grilled him over the pending energy bill rises that are set to hit the nation.Naga fumed at the energy boss for "signing off" a scheme which allowed his company to send socks to vulnerable customers who were struggling with the price surge.The socks initiative was created so that customers could turn their heating down.

Michael apologised to BBC viewers for the idea which was supposed to be "light-hearted".Naga said: "Michael, were you in charge to send socks to customers earlier this month or last month which you had to apologise for in order to encourage them to turn the heating down?"In response, he told the presenter: "Well that was a scheme to try and engage customers with zero carbon, it was meant to be in a light-hearted way."The TV star demanded to know if Michael had been behind the scheme's initiative and most importantly if he'd signed it off.He replied: "This was before the energy crisis and of course, we should have stopped it but we have apologised and I apologise again for that."The heated spat didn't go unnoticed by viewers at home, who took to Twitter to hail Naga for holding the CEO to account on the breakfast show.One tweet read: "Naga rightly giving #Eon CEO Mr Micheal Lewis an bloody nose interview #BBCBreakfast #energycrisisAnother commented: "@TVNaga01 you are an inspiration!
