A former soap chief has hailed Dame Barbara Windsor as “the best executive producer EastEnders never had” for the way she bossed things behind the scenes.
Dominic Treadwell-Collins said the late star, who played feisty Queen Vic landlady Peggy Mitchell, often directed the rest of the cast – and even laid down the law with show-runners.
Babs once ticked off Samantha Womack and Rita Simons – who played Peggy’s nieces Ronnie and Roxy – for wearing Ugg boots behind the bar.
She told the pair that even if viewers could not see their feet, they could tell if they were wearing heels by the way they carried themselves.
