A bar in Stockport which hosted some of Manchester's music legends is closing down, throwing a party on its final night. Amp, which opened on Market Place in 2023, announced on its Instagram page that tonight (Saturday) would be its last.

The post read: "We here at Amp have had the best time looking after you all. But sadly we will be closing our doors for last time tomorrow after hosting Stockport's alternative market. "We could go on and on about how bad the economy is and all the blah blah blah.

But we would rather remember the awesome nights we have had and make sure we have one last knees up." Beside the announcement flyer, the bar clarified that its Stockport Alternative Market party would go ahead on Sunday.

When it was opened in 2023 by Aaron Davies, the bar moved into a spot vacated by glam rock venue Doctor Feelgood and promised to champion local bands.
