As the UK continues to feel the chill of winter with no end in sight, many of us will be looking to jet off in search of some winter sun.

While temperatures here struggle to reach double-digits, lots of destinations in Europe are basking in warm sunshine. The Canary Islands in particular are famous for their year-round summers, thanks to their location off the north coast of Africa.

This Spanish archipelago enjoys non-stop sunshine, except for the occasional cloudy or wet day. Lanzarote, the fourth largest of the islands, enjoys highs of up to 22C in February, far warmer that the temperatures we get here in the UK.

You can fly from Manchester Airport to Lanzarote in just over four hours. Skyscanner shows one-way flights from as little as £16 in February, with returns available for a similar price.
