A burns victim has shown off his shocking injuries after a huge explosion at a beachfront bar in an area packed with tourists.

General manager of The Balcony Bar and Kitchen Scott Halliday, 32, was flown to hospital with serious injuries after the blaze which started in an industrial fryer.

Two others suffered minor injuries as fire crews were called to the tourism hotspot of St Ives in Cornwall last Thursday. Witnesses say they heard 'screams' coming from the kitchen and feared people were trapped as a large smoke cloud was seen billowing over the waterfront.

Speaking for the first time since the incident, Scott posted a plea for people to donate to the Devon Air Ambulance which landed on the beach and came to his aid.
