Some viewers of tonight's EastEnders were left convinced that their televisions were broken due to muffled sound effects and subtitles.
Monday's instalment (June 1) focused solely on the ongoing storyline surrounding Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden) and his loss of hearing following the BBC One soap's 35th anniversary episodes.
The special episode, penned by veteran writer Simon Ashdown, sought to portray Ben's experience with damaged hearing as he tried to aid his father Phil Mitchell ( Steve McFadden ) in his latest criminal operation with gangster Danny Hardcastle ( Paul Usher ).
