Asda is launching a controversial new aisle in 359 of its supermarkets

Asda looks set to become the first UK supermarket with a dedicated vegan aisle - devoting two bays entirely to plant-based products.

Starting from 21 September, the new plant-based aisle is aimed at making Asda a destination store for the country's vegans. One of the bays will be filled with savoury products, including proteins and cooking sauces, and the other for sweet food and snacks, Bristol Live reports.

Asda buying manager Sarah Thornewill said:“We understand that customers want a quick and simple shopping experience, and this shouldn’t be restricted by dietary requirements.
