Arsenal are reportedly sizing up a late January transfer move for Crystal Palace defender Patrick van Aanholt. The Gunners are in the market for a new left-back after allowing Sead Kolasinac to join Bundesliga side Schalke on loan.
Currently, the only out-and-out left-back who manager Mikel Arteta possesses in his squad is former Celtic man Kieran Tierney.
But the Scot has been ruled out of the Gunners’ last two games against Southampton and Manchester United with a calf injury.That has forced Arteta into selecting Cedric Soares out of position to cover for Tierney’s absence on the left side of his defence.Though Cedric performed admirably, Arsenal are now eyeing up van Aanholt to bring in more natural cover and competition for Tierney.
