Mikel Arteta vented his frustrations with Arsenal's sloppy mistakes in the 1-0 defeat by Aston Villa but insisted his side deserved much more from the match.

The Gunners lost their second game in a row as Ollie Watkins' early goal was enough to hand Villa the three points. It caps a disappointing week for Arsenal after they were beaten by Wolves on Tuesday, and their recent momentum has been stopped in its tracks.

The result means Arteta's side remains in 10th place in the table, but they have played more games than those around them and their hopes of an unlikely bid for a European qualification place appear to be fading.
