Alexandria mum who lost teenage son to suicide blasts 'atrocious’ mental health waiting times

Get the stories that matter to you sent straight to your inbox with our daily newsletter.A mum who lost her teenage son to suicide hit out at “atrocious” waiting times for young people desperately seeking mental health support.Lizzi Stuart, of Alexandria, who has been campaigning in a bid to stop other families going through the same heartache, said young people and their parents are turning to charities after being told they could wait a year for help.She spoke out after it was revealed just 34 per cent of struggling children in West Dunbartonshire were referred to specialist mental health services within the target of 18 weeks.This is well behind the Scottish Government target of 90 per cent and behind the national average of 60.
