Alexander Emmanuel Rodriguez (born July 27, 1975), nicknamed "A-Rod", is an American former professional baseball shortstop and third baseman who played 22 seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB).
He played seven seasons with Seattle Mariners, three seasons with the Texas Rangers and twelve seasons with the New York Yankees. Rodriguez began his professional career as one of the sport's most highly touted prospects, and is considered to be one of the greatest baseball players of all time.
Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez are working closely with senior bankers at JPMorgan Chase on a new bid to buy the New York Mets baseball team after their initial approach failed earlier this month. 'A-Rod' emerged as a potential buyer shortly after current New York minority owner Steve Cohen's bid to purchase a majority stake in the team fell through.
According to insiders, the baseball legend and pop-star actress are putting in 'hundreds of millions' of their own money into the bid.
Lopez and Rodriguez are also engaging in conversation with New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft about becoming a potential investor.
