The government has announced new rules on face coverings during the coronavirus pandemic. From July 24 it will become mandatory in England for people to wear face coverings in all shops.
This will be enforced by police who can issue fines of up to £100 if you refuse. This comes two months after the government first recommended wearing a face covering in indoor spaces to prevent passing Covid-19 to others.
Despite NHS staff taking to social media to remind people that they have to wear face coverings on wards for up to 13 hours a day, some people are furious about having to wear one when they pop to the shop.
