A woman has been charged with assault after a police officer was bitten while on duty in Piccadilly Gardens.Police were patrolling the area on Saturday afternoon when they were approached by a member of the public reporting two women being aggressive towards one another.
A female officer attempted to separate the parties, but one of the women bit the officer on her arm. The officer needed hospital treatment for the wound.Petra Clyde, 40, of Huddersfield Road, Stalybridge, has now been charged with a section 39 assault, a section 47 assault and obstructing police.She has been remanded in custody to appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court today.
