Woman, 28, dies after neighbours evacuated over reports of a gas leak

A woman was tragically found dead after police and emergency services responded to reports of a concern for her welfare, it was revealed today.

Homes were evacuated on Huxley Street in the Halliwell area of Bolton on Saturday evening after reports of a possible gas leak.

But in an update today, Greater Manchester Police said the reports 'proved to be incorrect' and there was no leak. Neighbours who were evacuated were allowed back into their homes after checks of the area were made, it's understood.

But the force said sadly, a 28-year-old woman was found dead at the scene inside a property on the street. The death isn't being treated as suspicious.
