Shocked residents were evacuated from a street in Middleton last night after new occupants of a house found a collection of war memorabilia including what appeared to be a hand grenade in the attic.
The emergency services, including army bomb disposal, were called to Worcester Road shortly after 9pm following the alarming discovery in one of the properties.
It is understood the find was made by new occupants of what had been a vacant property until the new occupants moved in.
