The warrant executed this morning - captured by police drone footage - was on a much small scale than previous high-profile operations in the Cheetham Hill and Strangeways areas, which have seen police and trading standards seize fake designer gear worth £39m.
Acting on intelligence that suggested the unit was being used to store counterfeit clothing for onward distribution and online sales, the raid on a warehouse on Bury New Road in Cheetham Hill uncovered £15,000 in cash and five tonnes of counterfeit items. Greater Manchester Police said the warehouse was continuing to operate despite its 'relentless activity in the area'. A statement said: "Those involved in this enterprise appeared to not have seen the news that Operation Vulcan were still pursuing anyone involved in the counterfeit trade and organised crime." A 35-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of money laundering.
