Three youths were arrested after police uncovered a machete and a large knife within moments of arriving at the Trafford Centre.
Greater Manchester Police says officers from its transport unit visited the site in plain clothes on Saturday night (September 9).
The operation followed a series of recent knifepoint robberies, GMP says. After 30 minutes on the scene, police spotted a group of three youths, including two who were carrying dangerous weapons.
Officers pursued the trio before arresting them. They were taken to custody for questioning and have since been released on bail, pending further enquiries.
