Workers and campaigners are calling for the Chancellor to extend the furlough scheme past April, amid widespread disruption as new Covid variants continue to spread through the UK.
It comes as new border restrictions come into force - with schools and non-essential businesses still closed in line with national lockdown restrictions.
Think tank the IPPR estimates up to 9million jobs could be at risk without extended business support. It warned almost 600,000 UK firms could collapse this spring without an urgent extension of government aid.
