Child killer Lucy Letby will die behind bars after she received a whole life order today. The former nurse was sentenced at Manchester Crown Court for the murders of seven babies and the attempted murder of six others.
Following a nine-month trial, a jury found her guilty of 14 of the 22 charges she faced. Letby carried out a horrific of spate of crimes at the Countess of Chester Hospital between June 2015 and June 2016.
During that time, she deliberately poisoned babies with insulin and fatally injected some with air while working as a nurse in the neonatal unit. The 33-year-old will likely serve her prison sentence at HMP Low Newton, a maximum security women's prison in County Durham, the Mirror reports.
The jail is, and has previously been, home to some of the UK's most notorious female prisoners including Joanna Dennehy and the mother of tragic tot Baby P, Tracey Connelly.
