Nicola Sturgeon yesterday announced 11 council areas would move to level 4 from Friday - and will face the toughest restrictions in the five-tier system.

Similar to March's lockdown, people will be advised to stay at home "as much as possible", while non-essential shops, restaurants and gyms will close.

A travel ban will also be enforced by law, meaning Scots could be slapped with fines for venturing outside level 3 and 4.
