But some of the downpours this weekend have felt pretty biblical. Torrential rain led to flooding and crashes around Greater Manchester on Sunday as the region was battered by Storm Fleur.

Flooding closed parts of the M61 and M66, as well as the A555 Manchester Airport Eastern Link Road. A number of crashes have also been reported, including an incident on the M60, while flood warnings have been issued for the River Glaze through Leigh and Wigan.
