Manchester City fans, for the most part, have fond memories of Roberto Mancini. He is remembered for his delirious celebrations on the final day of the 2011-12 season when Sergio Aguero’s late, late goal against QPR gave his side the Premier League title.
That was Mancini’s finest hour. Understandably, it overshadowed his occasional sullenness and tendency to revert to overly defensive tactics.
For winning that title, and breaking Manchester United hearts in the process, Mancini will always be a popular figure at City.
He was sacked exactly a year after that QPR game, though. It ended in ignominious circumstances, too, as City fell to defeat in the FA Cup final against Wigan.
