Whale rescued near Skye after becoming entangled in fishing lines

Another whale has been rescued from fishing lines off the coast of Skye near to where one was trapped last month. Rescuers from the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) were made aware that a whale had become entangled in static fishing gear, near to a salmon farm where a whale was rescued at the end of January.

It is understood that the whale got caught in dragging creel nets, but has now been released by locals and a fisherman working with BDMLR.

On today's entanglement, one local fisherman told the Daily Record: “There's another whale caught in ropes near the fish farm.

Locals thinks something must attracting the whales.“However it might be that the two who have recently become trapped may have been responding to calls from the first one that got stuck.”Another fisherman said: "The whale got caught in a creel net.
