Weddings will only be allowed in "exceptional circumstances" as England is plunged into a third national lockdown to curtail the spread of Covid-19.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson made the announcement this evening, which will see tough new measures in place until the middle of February.
It came as coronavirus hospital deaths rose to 413 today - the highest Monday increase since April- with 58,784 new infections.
The tougher restrictions follow mounting pressure on the government after an increasing number of hospitals struggle to cope with the overwhelming amount of Covid-19 infections.
