Tyson Fury has been told that he can continue as WBC heavyweight champion despite taking part in his upcoming 'crossover' fight against UFC star Francis Ngannou.
Fury has held the WBC world heavyweight title since 2020, but some reports this week had suggested his reign could be at risk should he fail to agree terms on a world title fight against a top-ranked contender.
Oleksandr Usyk is the obvious contender as the holder of all remaining belts in the heavyweight division, but Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua have also been mentioned.
Fury and Usyk failed to agree terms on a fight, with the Gypsy King instead electing to take on Ngannou as his next opponent.
