Maguire was found guilty in a Greek court in Syros on Tuesday of aggravated assault, resisting arrest and attempts of bribery and was handed a 21-month suspended sentence after a 'disturbance' last Thursday night.
United confirmed Maguire's legal team had lodged an appeal on Wednesday morning, which immediately overturned the guilty verdict.Maguire and his legal team remain convinced that Maguire will ultimately be found not guilty.
They plan to include previously unseen video and forensic evidence on Maguire and his sister Daisy in their case, which will help to prove their version of events.MEN Sport also understands there are no immediate plans to strip Maguire of the United captaincy.
