But one social media user has shared a nifty method for creating pretty waves using just her fingers and a clever twisting technique.
TikTok creator @quintymirjam has posted a video tutorial demonstrating how she curls a section of hair using just her hands.
In the short clip, the 24-year-old hair influencer from the Netherlands takes a small section of her long blonde locks, makes a loop, then wraps the hair tightly back round itself.
