A report has revealed the efforts made by the White House to defend America against attacks on its electrical grid, which could put millions of lives at risk.

Such attacks could come as a result of cyberattacks or solar storms causing an electrical magnetic pulse that would 'destroy' the grid, according to a report released by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
