The zoo dubbed the 'UK's worst' will be be allowed to reopen after agreeing to give up its big cats following the death of two lynx.

Borth Wild Animal Kingdom in West Wales lost its licence to house “Category 1 carnivores” such as lions and lynx and was ordered to close in January.

However, judges have now said the park can remain open on the basis it does not house big cats. Owners Tracy and Dean Tweedy said while the zoo currently remains closed to "make adjustments" in the coming weeks, they were thankful not to be entirely shut down.

They said: “They could have closed us down completely, but we managed to come to a compromise. Unfortunately we will have to say goodbye to our cats for a short time.” Council chiefs have "lost confidence"
