lottery winners have reportedly kept things practical with their first purchase since bringing home a multimillion jackpot.

Joe and Jess Thwaite from Gloucestershire broke records last month when they bagged the eye-watering sum of £184million in the Euromillions draw.

Their lucky numbers were 3, 25, 27, 28 and 29 – plus the Lucky Star numbers 4 and 9. After raking in the historic win Joe and Jess have now chosen to splash the cash on a grey Volvo V60 worth £38,000, The Sun reports. While still a purchase many could only dream of amid the ongoing cost of living crisis, it stands out as a relatively tame one compared to some big-money blowouts by previous winners.Past first buys include £5million worth of property, a wine cellar and a cachet of luxury cars.Neighbours have reportedly said the sensible move is in line with the Thwaites' character, with one telling The Sun: “They’re mega lottery winners but first and foremost they’re down-to-earth people who have worked hard their whole lives. The complimentary locals went on to add that their choice of car is "smart" and "respectable", which is "just like Joe and Jess".Their choice of motor appears to line up closely with Joe's comments at a press conference last month, where he said his dream car would be a Skoda Superb estate because of "how much you can fit in the boot".For the latest breaking news and stories from across the globe from the Daily Star, sign up for our newsletter by clicking here.On the day the couple admitted that they had wanted to keep the life-changing win a secret at first but quickly found that this was very hard to do.Describing the lottery results as a "huge relief", Jess said: "The win gives us time to dream which we haven’t had before.
