The UK needs to take drastic action to prevent an invasion of killer Asian hornets, an expert has warned. Described as "bigger wasps", the hornets have smuggled their way to Britain from France, with nine nests identified and destroyed since 2016, and are already plaguing several Channel Islands.
Robert Moon became the first Brit to become a qualified pest controller in the country. He moved to France in 2006, which has been besieged by Asian hornets since 2004 when the first wave of them hit Bordeaux.
Ten years later they began appearing in the Centre Region, where Robert lives – more than 400km away from where they were first seen.
