The number of people who have died with coronavirus in the UK's hospitals has risen by 372. The latest tally included 300 fatalities in England, 39 in Scotland, 22 in Wales, and 11 in Northern Ireland.

It is the highest rise on a Tuesday since mid-May. It comes as the world comes together with fresh hope after a major vaccine breakthrough.

Pfizer's jab could be rolled out in the UK within weeks. The government is preparing to administer the Covid-19 shot to the most vulnerable first, as well as care home and hospital workers.

The latest hospital death figures show most of those who died were aged over 60. England's North West led the tragic death statistics, with 114 dying in the region's hospitals.
