The number of UK coronavirus deaths in hospitals has increased by 445 a day after the PM announced restrictions would be relaxed for five days over Christmas.
In England, another 353 fatalities were recorded, in Scotland 44 more people died in hospitals, in Wales 41 more lives have been lost and Northern Ireland's hospital death toll rose by seven.
The figures come exactly one week before the lockdown ends in England. Last Wednesday there were 388 deaths. The previous Wednesday, November 11, another 478 coronavirus deaths were recorded in UK hospitals.
The number of lives lost to the coronavirus pandemic in UK hospitals yesterday rose by 422 - with a ten-year-old among the casualties.
