John Coker, 53, passed away last night (Friday, April 17) after fighting for his life in an intensive care unit after first developing symptoms four weeks ago.
He leaves behind a wife and their three children. British Transport Police Chief Constable, Paul Crowther, said his colleagues will remember a man who was 'charismatic, kind and thoughtful' and will be greatly missed by all in the Force.
CC Crowther in a statement said: "It is with tremendous sadness that I can confirm Detective Constable John Coker, aged 53, passed away last night. "John was taken ill on 22nd March with symptoms of Coronavirus.
