Tributes paid to 'kind and thoughtful' British Transport Police officer who died after contracting coronavirus

Tributes have been made to a British Transport Police (BTP) officer who has sadly died after contracting coronavirus. John Coker, 53, passed away last night (Friday, April 17) after fighting for his life in an intensive care unit after first developing symptoms four weeks ago.

He leaves behind a wife and their three children. British Transport Police Chief Constable, Paul Crowther, said his colleagues will remember a man who was 'charismatic, kind and thoughtful' and will be greatly missed by all in the Force.

CC Crowther in a statement said: "It is with tremendous sadness that I can confirm Detective Constable John Coker, aged 53, passed away last night.   "John was taken ill on 22nd March with symptoms of Coronavirus.
