A fallen tree has damaged a house in Stockport during Storm Eowyn. The region has today (January 24) been battered by strong winds which were in excess of 60mph in some areas.

A tree is said to have been blown into the side of a property in Edgeley. Pictures show the top of the tall tree resting on the roof of the property on Lark Hill Road, having left a gaping hole.

A worker on an aerial platform could be seen examining the damage. It is not the first building in Stockport to be affected by the stormy conditons.

The roof was ripped off a home in Cheadle Hulme. A cordon was put in place and local businesses were closed for a short while as crews dealt with the debris that was being flung onto oncoming traffic on Hulme Hall Lane.
