All Northern train services between Stockport and Altrincham have been cancelled this evening due to an ongoing police incident.
Journeys going in both directions have been cancelled as emergency services deal with the incident. There are unconfirmed reports that a person has been hit by a train.
It is thought the incident occured on the line nearby Southmoor Road in Wythenshawe. National Rail announced that shortly after 4.30pm on Sunday afternoon, February 6, railway lines between the two stations were closed. Pictures show a halted train and what appear to be forensics on the line. Travellers have been informed they can use their tickets on Transport for Wales services between Chester and Manchester Piccadilly.
