Jeremy Kyle Show guest Steve Dymond has died, a court heard. Mr Dymond, 63, died of a morphine overdose at his Portsmouth home a week after filming for the former hit ITV show in May 2019.An inquest was due to take place in Hampshire this week - but a coroner said today he was postponing it on “compassionate grounds” after learning of the death of Steve’s mother.Steve’s brother Leslie Dymond and Steve’s son Carl Woolley are attending her funeral tomorrow, the court heard.

This would have clashed with the second day of the hearing so they wrote to the coroner to request the adjournment. The pair have also sent a letter to the coroner questioning whether more evidence had come to light following the airing of a Channel 4 documentary about their relative this month. At a brief hearing in Winchester this morning, area coroner Jason Pegg said the bereavement and funeral would affect the pair’s ability to engage with the four-day inquest.Mr Pegg said he had asked all lawyers to respond to the family’s submissions about the Channel 4 documentary before today’s hearing. He said: “I do not consider there are matters arising from the Channel 4 documentary that would in themselves be grounds for adjourning the inquest today.

There is presently sufficient evidence available that allows me as the coroner to properly answer the four statutory questions - who was the deceased and how, when and where he came by his death.”Barristers for the family, ITV and a doctor related to Steve’s death were all present at the hearing.Jeremy Kyle was said to be aware of this morning’s hearing but did not appear in person or remotely for the hearing and was not represented by a lawyer.Mr Pegg told the court witnesses would be called to give live evidence.
