The UK’s premiere cycling road race sets off from Greater Manchester this Sunday (September 3). The Grand Depart is in Altrincham, with riders setting off from Market Street at 11.45am.
For the first four-and-a-half kilometres, the race is neutralised, with pedalling in anger starting in Wilmslow at 12.15pm. The route then passes through Greater Manchester boroughs.
They are Bury, Manchester, Oldham, Salford, Stockport, Trafford, and Wigan. It’s 19 years since the starting point for the first edition of the modern incarnation of the race. To facilitate the race, a slew of road closures and parking restrictions have been announced by councils.
