Salone del Mobile, the world’s largest design fair which takes place at a huge complex in the north of the city, was the first to return after an 18-month pandemic-induced hiatus, albeit in a slimmed-down version labelled Supersalone.
The key theme of the show was sustainability: as opposed to the elaborate installations that the design superbrands usually build, this year the look was relatively spartan.
Simple stands were constructed from recycled (and recyclable) wood that will be dismantled and reused, and a collection of trees dotted throughout will be replanted in the local area.
